An STP is a place where scientific ideas and thoughts are transformed into products and services. As socio-economic systems, they create a basis for the development of start-ups, knowledge transfer, cooperation between enterprises and scientific institutions and, thus, the commercialization of innovations and other research results. For this reason, the focus of STP functioning is the object of scientific research. On the other hand, there are enough unresolved issues. In most cases, individual aspects of STP activities are upset. There is a lack of research related to the assessment of park activities in a comprehensive, systemic manner. Without a general indicator, it is impossible to compare the activities of individual STPs, it is impossible to study their impact on the performance of enterprises, etc. The aim of the article is to develop a methodology for a comprehensive quantitative assessment of the activities of scientific and technological progress and to test it using the example of parks in Poland.
1 Exploring the social and economic consequences of the metaverse: a multi-criteria approach to the SDGsItem type:Publication, research article[2025][S1][T007,S004,S003,T002,S005][25] ;Ghasemzadeh, Fatemeh ;Ghahremannasab, Babak; Technological and economic development of economy, 2025, vol. 31, no. 5, p. 1619-1643This study explores the social implications of the Metaverse, a transformative digital ecosystem, through the lens of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research identifies fourteen key concerns associated with the adoption of Metaverse technologies and assesses their societal impact. A two-stage methodology was employed: an expert panel utilized Grey Step-wise Weight Assessment Ratio Analysis (SWARA) and Grey Combined Compromise Solution (CoCoSo) to assign relative weights and to rank these concerns, reflecting their significance in societal contexts. Following this, an international survey was conducted to quantitatively gauge public perspectives across diverse demographics. Key findings highlight substantial psychological impacts linked to immersive experiences, such as addiction and mental health challenges, which pose a threat to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being). The environmental sustainability of Metaverse technologies is also critically examined, stressing the urgent need for green practices to mitigate carbon emissions and reduce energy consumption. Furthermore, ethical issues, particularly surrounding data privacy and user consent, are discussed, emphasizing the importance of robust regulatory frameworks to ensure safe and equitable user experiences. The study reveals the Metaverse’s potential to both foster global connectivity and exacerbate existing social inequalities, advocating for balanced, inclusive approaches to ensure equitable access. By integrating expert insights with broad public opinions, this research provides a comprehensive analysis of the complex relationship between digital technology and societal well-being, offering a foundation for future exploration of the responsible evolution of the Metaverse.
2 Financial performance and capital structure dynamics of the high-tech startups in the Baltic regionItem type:Publication, research article[2025][S1b][S004][9]; Business: Theory and Practice, 2025, vol. 26, no. 1, p. 153-161This study examines young fast growing technology startup companies in Baltic region. Employing unique datasets of startups financial accounting data from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia comparative and correlation analysis between growth, profitability and financial leverage indicators reflects how lifecycle stages influence startups profitability and capital structure. By analysing the development patterns of innovative products, investment phases, and capital structures, the research aims to uncover the strategic choices made by startups at different stages of their lifecycle and the implications of these choices on their financial performance. By comparing startups with other control groups in hi-tech and traditional industries research provides empirical evidence on the unique developmental trajectories of startups which enhances the strategic decision-making capabilities of investors and policymakers by providing a deeper, empirically grounded understanding of how startups differ from other sectors in terms of growth, profitability, and capital structure dynamic.

For the first time, this study proposes a novel multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method, Multiple Normalization Rating Analysis (MUNRA), for ranking alternatives. It integrates linear, vector, and non-linear normalization to improve robustness, reduce rank reversal, and enhance decision accuracy. A case study of digital supplier selection in the textile industry is considered for a real-life application of the method. Results highlight technology integration, flexibility, and technological capability as the most influential criteria for selecting digital suppliers. Moreover, the final ranking of the six digital suppliers is as follows: DS5, DS4, DS2, DS6, DS1, and DS3. Validation through comparative MCDM methods, Spearman correlation, and sensitivity analyses confirms the credibility of the method. It is also shown that it is free from the rank reversal phenomenon. The research presents a computationally efficient and rigorous method for evaluating digital suppliers, offering strategic insights for digital supply chain management. The application of MUNRA to a larger decision-making problem further illustrates its scalability and cross-domain applicability.
Scopus© Citations 1 2 Exploring search strategy for systematic literature review: evidence from the International Journal of Management ReviewsItem type:Publication, research article[2025][S1b][S003,S008][11] ;Szarucki, Marek ;Sadauskis, Andriejus; Kosch, OskarBusiness: theory and practice, 2025, vol. 26, no. 2, p. 360-370Systematic literature reviews (SLRs) advance management theory and practice by synthesizing knowledge in a structured and transparent manner. However, inconsistent reporting of search strategies limits replicability and methodological rigor. To address this gap in reporting standards, the main objective of this article is to explore successful search strategies for SLRs in management research. We further propose a distinction between transparency (conceptual replication) and practical replication to clarify what constitutes a replicable review in this field. We conducted a systematic review of 57 SLRs published in the International Journal of Management Reviews and propose five criteria that search strategy reporting should meet to ensure replicability: (1) provision of a search query, (2) reporting of the query execution date, (3) indication of the search timespan, (4) clear presentation of inclusion/exclusion criteria, and (5) specification of the document sections screened (e.g., title, abstract, full text). Our findings show that most reviews support conceptual replication by providing the search query, timespan, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and screened document sections; however, practical replication remains rare due to missing details – especially the search execution date. To improve future SLRs, we recommend: (1) disclosing the review team’s underlying research paradigms and beliefs to clarify the perspective behind the synthesis, and (2) ensuring diverse team composition from the outset – or, if constrained, explicitly acknowledging such limitations. Ideally, review teams should encompass diverse contexts and paradigms aligned with the scope of the review.
1 Sustainability and carbon footprint evaluation at university: case study of VILNIUS TECHItem type:Publication, research article[2025][S1][T004][26]; ; ; Technological and economic development of economy, 2025, vol. 31, no. 6, p. 2105-2130Because of a societal push towards sustainability a problem emerges of adapting the concept to different sectors of the economy and society. The differing complexities of different fields and social structures make it difficult to create a universal sustainability strategy. Higher education institutions (HEIs) consist of a broad range of people, working in various fields of industry, making it an appropriate cross-section of the nation. Adapting sustainability practices in these institutions would allow to screen for successful policies before implementing them more widely, detecting most effective practices, allowing a faster transition towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is hard to decide where to start, as many sustainable practices exist. This article presents the case study of VILNIUS TECH and conducts a comparison with universities in the region, determining best sustainability practices. The Greenhouse gas (GHG) protocol standard was used to form the emission inventory. The university comparison will help identify effective HEIs carbon footprint minimization practices, as well as other implemented policies as an example of where HEIs should start on their road to a more sustainable institution.
1 Tokenization and the future of property investment: A new paradigm for real estateItem type:Publication, research article[2025][S1][T002,S003][19] ;El Jaouhari, Asmae ;Samadhiya, Ashutosh ;Kumar, Anil ;Chokshi, Hemakshi; International journal of strategic property management, 2025, vol. 29, no. 4, p. 297-315Tokenization has improved liquidity, access to markets and ownership models for real estate investments. This research aims to analyze applications, enablers and challenges of tokenization by conducting a systematic literature review of 75 peer-reviewed journal articles that discuss real estate tokenization using the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework. The findings show that tokenization allows more efficient markets with automation, transparency, and liquidity; new investment methods in real estate, such as crowdfunding and fractional ownership; and reductions of any limits of traditional real estate through the reduction of costs, faster transactions, and higher investor engagement. Nevertheless, there are still barriers to real estate tokenization including technological risks, regulatory fragmentation, and the reluctance of organizations towards decentralized asset structures. These are supported by the literature review findings. These barriers highlight the necessity of investor education, technology standardization, and regulatory harmonization with the aim of promoting wider adoption. This paper lays the groundwork for future research into risk management, scalability, and institutional integration of real estate tokenization by highlighting important gaps in existing literature and consolidating previous studies. Ultimately, even though tokenization has a lot of potential to change the real estate market, its long-term success depends on the development of accurate legal frameworks and the seamless incorporation of tokenized assets into conventionnel financial systems.

An integrated measurement framework is proposed to assess the long-term impact of firm-based innovations on GDP comprehensively. The literature analysis sheds light on the link between firm-based innovations and economic growth, and the study follows a three-step methodology: firstly, data on innovation and GDP are collected from Eurostat and OECD, followed by an econometric analysis to identify the links between firm-based innovation performance and economic growth, and finally, a cluster analysis is performed. This cluster analysis grouped countries according to their level of innovation and economic performance. The empirical results showed that Germany, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Ireland have high innovation and GDP growth rates, and their innovation ecosystem contribute significantly to economic prosperity. The study confirms that innovation drives GDP growth, but its impact varies across countries depending on R&D investment, workforce skills, and policy environment. Therefore, policymakers should develop innovation strategies that consider each country’s specificities following the results of cluster analysis to maximise the economic impact.

Recent studies emphasize the importance of development driver projects for regeneration across three scales: macro, medium, and micro. However, research has lacked an examination of the impact of indicators at all three scales. To fill this research gap, the present study investigates the effect of development driver indicators on the regeneration of the worn-out fabric of Semnan, one of Iran’s historic and significant cities. This research initially identifies 16 indicators across the three scales. Data were collected from 385 residents and analyzed using the Phi coefficient and structural equation modeling. The results of the Phi test indicated that development projects could act as “nuclei for urban transformation of the worn-out fabric of Semnan”. Furthermore, the structural equation modeling analysis revealed that development driver indicators at the macro scale, such as parks (0.71) and landscape design (0.66), have a significant impact on regeneration. This study emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach to regeneration and suggests that active stakeholder participation in various stages of regeneration is essential. The findings of this study can serve as guidance for policymakers and urban planners in Iran and other countries.

By applying a comprehensive and multifaceted literature review approach the emerging research fields in the area, current level of the operationalization of the agricultural economic resilience notion and challenges in the measurement of the agricultural economic resilience are discussed. The research is supplemented by the bibliographic analysis, which indicates the five main thematic areas in the agricultural economic resilience field evolving around food security issues, hurdles in measuring the agricultural resilience, systems-network approach on the agricultural resilience, agricultural ability to adapt to external perturbations and importance of the agricultural economic resilience in assuring the decent livelihood for the rural population of the least developed regions. The potential perspective research avenues for the future research on agricultural economic resilience are proposed.
