The construction sector plays a vital role in climate change because of the high carbon emissions. It is accounted for around 39 percent of the emissions from all anthropogenic activities. The production of construction materials like cement, steel, and bricks and transporting the materials to the site is called the cradle to gate, which is the highest contributor of all processes in construction, hence decarbonization of the building sector is very important. The study aims to mitigate the carbon footprint by adopting a Life Cycle assessment tool like One Click LCA to analyze the construction of residential buildings of 100-meter square by comparing the different materials used in the buildings and choosing the most sustainable or the least impact material and analyzing the different stages or phases of the construction process. The three majorly used building frames are the concrete frame, steel frame, and timber frame structures. As from the results the Timber based buildings have a less negative impact on the environment, apart from that they also act as the carbon sink and sequester the carbon. The comparative analyses of the buildings show that concrete and steel frame buildings have a higher negative impact on the environment. The selection of an efficient material plays a major role to achieve the net zero emission targets.
