Investigation of Fiber Optical Cable Application in Aviation Industry
The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibilities of using fiber optical cable for networking in aircraft which is equipped with avionics full duplex switched Ethernet technology. Investigation of fiber optical cables is done to the most critical parameters. Approach is performed by mathematical model, practical experiment and software simulation. The major objective of this study is to research fiber optical bending loss, as this parameter is inevitable in aircraft network installation. Obtained data is stored in tables and figures. The research work has reached its aim. In work fiber optical cable is tested in most possible scenario and obtained results practically confirmed with mathematical model and with software simulation with small deviation, possibly due to error in measurement device. On the basis of the results of this research, it can be concluded, that fiber optical cable bending radius is suitable for installation in aircraft networking.
