Reinforced concrete is typical in engineering applications, but steel reinforcement has low corrosion resistance. GFRP materials can solve the corrosion problem. However, the low stiffness of GFRP material increases the deformation capacity of the structure, which may reduce the load-bearing capacity of the structural system. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct tests on GFRP profiles to study the effect of material stiffness on their load-carrying capacity. The research idea of this thesis is to find the low stiffness of the GFRP profile by reviewing the literature. It leads to the structural deformation problem, which affects the structural load-bearing capacity. Conduct a four-point bending test to study the bending performance of the GFRP I-beam. Establish a finite element model for the four-point bending test to predict the deformation and the corresponding ultimate load-bearing capacity. The first part of this thesis reviews the history of the application of reinforced concrete structures and the corrosion problem of reinforcing steel and investigates the forming and manufacturing technologies of FRP materials. Application examples of FRP profiles are presented. The second part conducts four-point bending tests on GFRP I-beams with different span-to-height ratios to study the bending performance and damage morphology. The third part establishes the finite element model of four-point bending of the GFRP I-beam to predict the deformation and load-bearing capacity of the model. The work consists of an introduction, literature review, experimental study, numerical analysis, conclusions and recommendations, references. The Thesis consists of 59 pages, 34 figures, 5 tables, and 38 numbered literature references.
