The topic of the Master Thesis is "Single-cell protein production from natural gas by using Methylococcus capsulatus".The author of the thesis is Zane Feodorova, a 2nd-year student of the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Master's study program ”Environmental Engineering”.The aim of this work is to research whether the culture of methanotrophic bacteria Methylococcus capsulatus would be potentially used in biogas and natural gas cogeneration plants to absorb wastefully burned methane and produce single-cell protein. To achieve the aim, the following tasks were set:1) to get acquainted with the available literature and perform its analysis in accordance with the topic;2) to develop various experimental models based on scientific publications;3) to perform experiments;4) describe the course of experiments and record the obtained results;5) to summarize conclusions from the obtained results and give recommendations for the improvement of the quality of experiments and measurements. The work consists of 2 chapters, 11 sections, and 26 subsections. The theoretical part of the work is the first chapter. Chapter 2 is the practical part. In the practical part of the thesis, experiments were conducted in the Biosystems Laboratory of the Riga Technical University Institute of Energy Systems and Environment, where microorganism cultivation was carried out. The experiments were performed over a period of 5 months from December 2020 to May 2021.Master Thesis consists of 74 pages, 5 Tables, 48 Figures, 7 formulas, and 104 references.
