The final master’s thesis examines the thermal method for removing wire insulation material. The main goal of the study is to develop experimental equipment and a digital model for insulation removal, in which the wire passes between two rotating drums, one of which is heated. The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of the method when applied to different insulation materials (PVC, PE, PTFE), various temperatures, and movement speeds. The structure of the thesis consists of an introduction, four main chapters, and conclusions with recommendations. The first chapter provides a comprehensive review of scientific literature related to the environmental impact of wire recycling and insulation removal methods. The second chapter describes the experimental methodology and the testing setup. The third chapter presents the digital COMSOL model, while the fourth chapter contains the research results and a comparison between experimental and digital data. The study revealed that the proposed thermally based insulation removal method can be an effective solution both from a recycling and environmental perspective. The developed equipment and digital model enable optimization of process parameters and contribute to the development of innovative wire recycling solutions.
