Rusnė, a unique Lithuanian town located on an island in the Nemunas Delta, is one of the smallest, but socially and culturally unique regions in Lithuania. The town has a strong identity and community spirit. The location chosen for such a site is strategically convenient in terms of transport links, location of attractions in the town, accessibility to the town centre and historical landmarks. The site is also located in a low-urbanised, recreational part of the city. The site is bounded to the east by the River Atmata. Following pre-design studies, it was decided to emphasise the history and culture of the town in these community centres. The building comprises a wide range of functions, which have been chosen according to the needs of the surrounding community. The building consists of four blocks which are combined into one volume. The volumes of the community centre are integrated into the identity of the town and the urban structure.
