This master's thesis focuses on the influence of geometric factors on the load-bearing capacity and failure mechanisms of drilled bolted connections of pultruded GFRP plates. The first section briefly reviews the current state of research on the mechanically fastened connections and finite element simulations of composites and presents the research objectives of this thesis. The second section describes the tensile tests of one-lap one-bolt joints of the pultruded GFRP plates. This section also analyses the test results and theoretical predictions, investigating the connection dimensions' effect on the failure mechanisms of the bolted joint. The third section discusses the finite element simulation principles of the composite joints; the finite element simulations verify the experimental findings from the second part of the MSc Thesis. Finally, the fourth section summarises the research and draws general conclusions from this study. The work consists of an introduction, literature review, experimental study, numerical analysis, conclusions and recommendations, references. The Thesis consists of 65 pages, 25 figures, 10 tables, and 67 numbered literature references.
