The final thesis analyzes the efficiency of self-purification of nitrate nitrogen and phosphate phosphorus in Uogys stream, which belongs to the Venta river basin. Two sections of the stream were analyzed: regulated - 2.5 km and natural - 1.6 km. Water quality studies have been conducted since 2018 March until 2019 February. Samples were taken monthly from the 4 points of the stream and the concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus compounds were determined by a multiparametric photometer. The self-purification coefficients of the sections are presented and the efficiency of self-purification from nitrate nitrogen and phosphate phosphorus in the regulated and natural sections is evaluated. The mean value of self-purification coefficient of nitrate nitrogen in the regulated stream section is 0.114 and in the natural section - 0.388. Phosphate phosphorus is 0.237 and 0.735, respectively. This shows that stream purifies itself better in natural section. The results of the one-factor dispersive analysis show that the mean values of self-purification coefficients of nitrate nitrogen in the regulated and natural sections with 95 % reliability do not differ substantially and the phosphate phosphorus is substantially different. In order to improve the efficiency of the self-purification of the regulated stream section, it is proposed to renaturalize the selected segment of the regulated section.
