Noise of the cars is a serious and still not solved environmental problem. Noise produced by cars and the traffic intensity, which much influences the noise level, was studied in the highway Vilnius – Prienai – Marijampolė (length – 139 km) in three places too (Trakai – 31 km, Prienai – 99 km and Triobiškis – 138 km). While seeking to evaluate seasonal characteristics of the noise level, the studies were conducted in winter and summer in the distance of 7,5 m, 20 m, 50 m, 100 m, 150 m from the highway. Maximal noise level produced by cars was determined as follows: in the distance of 7,5 m from the highway it was 66–83 dBA; 20 m – 57–79 dBA; 50 m – 52 – 68 dBA; 100 m – 47-62 dBA; 150 m – 44-57 dBA. Equivalent noise level vacillates from 67 to 69 dBA in the distance of 7,5 m from the highway during winter, while during summer it vacillates from 68 to 70 dBA. From the research it is seen, that noise level is a little bit higher during the summer time.
