Baldų gamybos įmonių privatizavimas Lietuvoje

Abstract

After the declaration of independence of Republic of Lithuania the ministry that controlled furniture industry was abolished. In 1990 was established the furniture producer’s association “Medė”. Its main goal was co-operation between producers and control of their general activities. At present association consist of 26 members, 19 of them are furniture producers. After the privatisation furniture industry decreased dauble. This situation experts explained by the decreased demands of furniture, local market owerfull, and also decreasment of the provission to East market. Because of trade relations between Lithuania and West countries were very poor (in 1989 eksport to West countries was 8 %), it was necesary to search for new relationships. Step by step expanding production and trade, was made an increase of exports which in 1996 reached 40 % to West countries^ However, to increase the export impedes the increasing prises of wood and big inflation. Besides that, during nine months in 1996 furniture industry increased 18 %. Big contribution to furniture industry in Lithuania was made by establishing new enterprises, such as “Vokė-III”, “Narbutas & Ko” and others.
