During of modernisation and renovation of locomotives' fleet it is necessary to have impartial and reliable indexes of locomotives exploitation. There a lot of statistical data in the locomotive depot about exploitation of rolling stocks (for example, fuel consumption, engine oil consumption, the number of damages, etc.), but it was not created out method of estimation general quality of locomotives technical state. The coefficient of locomotives' effectiveness is suggested.
