Abstract

Vilnius was a starting point thar appeared in my eyes during quarantine. Before the pandemic, both Vilnius and the cities, I visited in other counties seemed beautiful in a touristic way to me, and the pandemic helped me see the pure beauty of forms and spaces without any background noise. The different and very diverse layers of Vilnius architecture, the diversity of architecture constantly provide various inspirations. Now, I have even become obsessed with a kind of excitement to show the city that everyone thinks they know well from other angles. And all this came naturally, because since childhood I have loved spaces and forms that seem to encode emotions. Similar to a brush for an artist, the camera has become a tool for me that helps reveal that beauty and diversity of forms. For me, good photography is one that primarily conveys emotion. It can also be a story, a narrative captured in a moment. It is important for me that the photograph has the appropriate mood, and the light and details are subordinated to this purpose. The process is simple: l just go to the city and take pictures. Sometimes I go purposefullv, if I know I want to take a picture of a certain object. Both in Vilnius and in other Lithuanian cities and countries I have been to, I like to look for unconventional, non-touristy areas. On the other hand, I think that even well-knorwn, thoroughly exploited tourist objects can be photographed from unexpected angles.
