The following questions are analysed in the article: an optimum stuffing of containers; a rational organization of handling equipment; the simulation of container traffic under undefined conditions. In solving these problems it was found: 1. When optimizing the stuffing of containers the best choise is to apply the methods of schedule theory. The following typical problems of the stuffing of containers are possible: the minimizing of the number of containers; the minimizing of the volume of containers; the maximizing of the number of cargos; the filling of containers when the number of cargos is unknown. 2. When solving the problems of an optimum planning of crane traffic, the right solutions can be obtained by using either the method of branches and boundaries, or the method of the multipliers of Lagrange in coordination with the methods of cutoff. Some of the mentioned procedures turn this problem into that of a commercial traveller. 3. The problem of the simulation of container flows under undefined conditions is converted into the finding of probabilities maximizing the entropies of average expenses on container transportation.
