Abstract (en)

One of many reasons of accidents in Lithuania is unsafe speed. Driver's speed depends on his/her consciousness, purpose of the trip and time in which he/she has to reach the destination. An opportunity to choose speed is the greatest on the road with low traffic intensity. If the traffic is large and many vehicles are on the road, drivers could not choose driving speed freely, as a result they try to fit to the common flow. According to Finland traffic enginners, often drivers choose the speed which enable them reach the destination. Chosen speed directly influences upon indices of accidents. Objective of the article is to fix the dependence of speed upon accidents and consequences.
