The understanding and description of till properties measured in triaxial test are discussed in this paper. The discussion of soil properties is concentrated on the pattern of behaviour of overconsolidated clay in consolidated – undrained test. The shearing resistance of soils are closely related with stress conditions, especial with pore water pressure. All soils are basically frictional materials with the strength being provided by the frictional resistance between soil particles governed by effective stress to which they are subjected.
