In the period between 1965 and 1990 asphalt concrete mix production in the factories under the Ministry of Transport increased from 0,9 to 2,4 million tonnes, and mixtures quality, i.e., the amount of mixtures (%) meeting state standard requirements grew from 23,1 to 67,7 %. After restoration of independence, with economic problems of the period, starting from 1990 decrease in asphalt concrete mixture production and deterioration of its quality was observed, and in 1990-1992 the amount of mixtures meeting state standard requirements made 51 %. In the recent years, under market economy conditions, asphalt concrete mixtures quality started improving again, and it can be assumed that within several years to come it will reach the recommended 95 % level.
