Adsorption characteristics of natural powdered zeolite for organic matter and iron removal from groundwater Mere evaluated technologically during the investigation on pilot scale plants. Two problems were solved step by step for establishment of technological possibilities and areas of application: 1. Adsorption capacity and characteristics of natural powdered zeolite were determined the according to its dependency the groundwater's quality (at laboratory). 2. Experimental investigation of the possibility to use an all-technological scheme practically and to determine the dependence of technological parameters. The investigation was carried out in a pilot plant consisting of adsorbermixer models into which aerated groundwater was supplied. Investigated technology-: - Organic matter and iron removal from the water via adsorption and filtration by using quarc sand: - A comparison was completed via organic matter and iron removal in the same way using filtration quartz sand only. According to the results of the investigation, recommendations for a project of an iron and organic matter removal plant that can supply drinking water to users were developed. Xatural zeolites have been successfully employed in mixed drinking water purification to treat organic contaminants and partially the iron from groundwater that has a high permanganate index. This will also create very good quality of drinking water according to Lithuanian Hygienically Norm HX24-9S.
