The preliminary layout design takes into account stations for passenger or/and freight traffic. In the same way crossing stations have been located along the alignment for both train crossing and overpassing. The operational tasks of the EG (European Gauge) and WG (Wide Gauge) Yards are presented in this paper. The design criterion for Crossing Stations are identical for all alternatives. The New Railway Line shall run for two kinds of transport: passenger and freight transport. Railway operations will be analysed for each alternative. Both alternatives, eastern and western, will be based on the Corridor I and IXd connection and operations in KLN (Kaunas Logistic Node).
