Abstract (en)
Assessment of damage to structures from short-lasting accidental actions (abnormal loads) is investigated in this paper. The attention is focused on the accidental actions which can be induced during se-vere man-made accidents. Probabilities of foreseeable damage events are used as quantitative measuresofdamage due to accidental actions. The paper considers an estimation ofthe damage probabilities by means ofa computer-intensive method of statistical inference known as bootstrap resampling. The application of boot-strap resampling is made possible by representing the damage probabilities in the form of mean values of fra-gility functions. These functions must be developed for all damage events of interest. [...].
