Abstract (en)
This article examines different control algorithms for passenger trains to reduce fuel consumption. Control algorithms are based on the use of train freewheeling to minimize friction braking and account for the average speed requirements of the traffic schedule. The authors identified the dependencies of the efficiency of the algorithms on the gradients and curves of the track and investigated the patterns of these dependencies. It was determined under which track profile parameters the algorithm is maximally effective. Conclusions are presented on which track profiles the control algorithm saves the most fuel.
