This article analyzes specific creation features of automated design system. The creation tasks of truss nodes automated design system are solved with Unified Modeling Language. Graphical system can select cross section of truss bar, calculate welding seams between bars and node sheet, and design node sheet. It discerns objectsclasses: bar, welding seam and node sheet, which have some properties and methods that ease programmer’s work. Truss geometry of the calculated scheme and bars’ stress is known. First, program selects cross sections of bars from standard edges database by using ActiveX Data Objects technology, which by programming method connects drawing and database. Drawing’s graphical objects have additional data from which exchange of data between graphical system and database is executed. Second, bars welding seams near node sheet are calculated using programming object’s welding seam properties and methods. Third, the program, knowing bars’ and welding seams’ geometry, designs node sheet. System’s test is executed with different number of bars, and a chart showing program’s possibilities is presented. Design system and example of steel plain truss node’s project with specifications is presented. Specific creation features of automated design system are discussed and conclusions are made.
