Abstract (en)
- Introduction. A reinforced concrete (RC) element is considered as a built-up member composed of a hollow plain concrete bar and a reinforcing bar (Fig. 1). The behavior of the builtup member is simulated by connecting these bars via the transverse and longitudinal links (Fig. 1a). The unknown bond stresses are found by removing the longitudinal links and applying the unknown contact forces instead of them. The cracking process is simulated by coupling the symmetrical and asymmetrical, incrementally-defined bond problems.
