Abstract (en)

Buildings are the one of the biggest contributors to the use of nonrenewable primary energy sources and pollution. Lithuania, which is joining European Union (EU), will have to face the requirements of EU directives and strategies together with other legal documents that promote and require the effective and sustainable solutions in energy field. One of the possibility is Sustainable Building, which by definition is ought to be energy efficient and do the least possible impact on environment. The Building Management system as one of the most important elements of a Sustainable Building has been investigated. As this is a quite new phenomenon in Lithuania, the problems related with the installation, maintenance, organization of exploitation activities, training of personal and energy saving issues have been reviewed.
