Abstract (en)

Around 6 milion tons of non-hazardous waste is generated in Lithuania every years. Overall used method if wadte disposal is landfiling. Most of the landfills are not designed or located properly. Untill 1998 there were no landfill with leachate treatment plant. Leachate from the landfills is very strong. They pose a threat for both surface and groundwater. Modeling of landfill's leachate movement in the soil can help to sum up situation.
