Traffic safety and its ensurance on roads, reduction of traffic accidents are one of the main goals of modern European and global life. Currently all European Union (EU) countries pay a lot of attention to these issues. It is estimated that the losses, related to traffic accidents, amount to 1–1,5 % GDP of EU. These accidents constitute 3 % of Lithuanian GDP annually and cause pain to the families of killed or injured people. In order to reduce the number of traffic accidents, it is necessary to implement national traffic safety policy, one of the most important directions of which is the implementation of traffic safety engineering measures on the roads with the highest traffic accident rate.
