The mass, geometric and inertial characteristics are very important when analyzing the dynamic characteristics of rail vehicles, especially those of cargo wagons, for mathematical and computer modeling. Although the aforementioned parameters are interrelated in one or another way, it is the inertial characteristics that should be analyzed separately. This research is devoted to the peculiarities of determination and specification of the inertial characteristics of the body of a wagon and the cargo for further use of this data during computer modeling of the dynamics of the wagon.
