Development of maritime students' professional career planning skills: needs,issues and perspectives

Abstract

The particular dynamics of vacancies and movement of labour force, rapid changes of activity content are characteristic to maritime sector and its labour market. It urges to activate the research of future seafarers professional career planning and the increase of professional career planning skills development.Educational and training institutions have not only to ensure the preparation of qualified specialists but also systematic and streamlined education for career. Therefore the aim of the article is to define needs, issues and perspectives of maritime students' professional career planning skills development. Maritime students' professional career planning skills development is analyzed using a systematic approach. In the empirical part, having conducted the surveys of Lithuanian and foreign and Lithuanian experts, quantitative research, the relevance of maritime students' professional career planning skills development.
