„Nuo seniausių laikų iki dabar valstybinių kelių egzistavimo esmė išlieka ta pati – tarnauti visuomenės reikmėms, - teigia VGTU Kelių katedros absolventas Skirmantas Skrinskas, vadovaujantis direkcijai, kuri prižiūri 21 tūkst. kilometrų valstybinės reikšmės kelių.
"From ancient times to present, the importance of the state roads remains the same - to serve the public interest" says Dr. Skirmantas Skrinskas, the director of Lithuanian Road Administration under the Ministry of Transport and Communication, about the symbolic meaning of the road. Having retired from business several years ago, Dr. Skrinskas, the graduate of VGTU Department of Roads, currently heads the department that supervises 21 thousand kilometers of national roads. "When I have decided to apply for the position at Lithuanian Road Administration, I had a few ideas, which I continue to nurture and implement, but what I wanted to do most was to dispel the then escalated myth about unfair roadmen. I want people to have positive connotations for the word "road" on a subconscious level. We want to prove that money economically invested in roads pays off and serves for the benefit of all people. I am glad my contribution makes people's journeys much safer. Good and neat roads make the transportation of goods easier, which is beneficial to both the State and its people," says Dr. Skirmantas Skrinskas, and also adds that we must invest in high quality of roads if we want to boost Lithuanian economy and attract investors. Dr. Skrinskas observes that investors will not come to Lithuania by bumpy gravel roads.
