A new method is described for multi-objective optimization with discrete alternatives: MOORA (Multi-Objective Optimization on basis of Ratio Analysis). This method goes for a matrix of responses of alternatives on objectives, on which rations are applied. An example on evaluating redevelopment alternatives of derelict rural buildings in Lithuania illustrates the application of the method. Given the fact that the paper concerns a new method for multi-objective optimization, well established and recognized other methods for multi-objective optimization are judged necessary as an instrument of control. The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) and Compromise ranking method (VIKOR) are chosen for that purpose. It is concluded that MOORA is operational and ready for practical use.
