Abstract (en)

The article analyses the main shortages of poverty measurement indicator - the rate of poverty risk, in Lithuania. The author suggests that poverty measurement based on relative poverty line is not effective in Lithuania. Relative poverty measures are usually being used in highly developed countries, where higher emphasis is put on intellectual and social needs rather than physical needs. It is argued that absolute poverty line should be used in Lithuania as a poverty measure.
