Railway transport plays an important role in Lithuanian passenger and freight transportation. In transport markets it competes with other transport modes, such as road, maritime and air transport. For the improvement of carriage by railway transport it is important to know its strengths and weaknesses, as well as its opportunities. Therefore SWOT analysis of passenger and freight transportation by rail is presented separately in this article.
