Presentation addresses development of the 3D discrete model of the particulate viscoelastic solids. The viscoelastic media is characterized by the constant instantaneous elasticity modulus while the viscous part reflects decay of the material stiffness. The viscous time-dependent component is described by using Prony series. Simulation of binary interaction of elastic spherical particles moving in viscoelastic media is the main focus of recent investigation. Interaction between two particles was considerate by the FE simulation of representable cylindrical volume and the complex Maxwell type spring-dashpot 1D connection element was developed on the basis of simulation results. The problem is considered by applying geometrically linear and nonlinear approaches, thereby observable contribution of the geometry changes was shown. The resulting stiffness decay due to viscosity may be decoupled from purely elastic properties. Verification of development elements comparing with full 3D solution yields satisfactory results.
