Many unknown manufacturers sell spare parts for cars in Lithuanian market. At present in Lithuania there are no testing stations for the certification of car spare parts. Results of the disc brake pads test according to standards ISO 6312& ISO 6310 carried out in VGTU department of Automobile transport are presented in this article. International Standard 6310 describes a method for measuring the shear strength of disc brake pad and drum brake shoe assemblies with regard to the adhesive connection between the brake lining material and lining carrier. At first the disc brake pads assemblies for shear strength were tested. Test results showed that shear strength is 1,5 - 2,0 times larger than the standard requires. Friction material for disc brake pads compressibility test was the second. International Standard 6310 applies to disc brake pads, brake shoe assemblies and friction materials without a backing plate to be used in road vehicles. It specifies a method for testing and measuring the compressibility of brake linings. The results show that the compressibility of friction materials of all tested brake pads made by little known manufacturers conforms to the requirements of standards.
