Abstract (en)
This article focuses on rain as input data to problems related to urban storm drainage and water recourse projects. As an example the rainfall records for the city of Kaunas, Lithuania, has been analyzed. The pluviograph rainfall record between 1967 and 1996 years have been utilized for statistical analysis. Traditional non-parametric method is used. Two variables have been investigated: peak intensity and depth. Intensity-duration-frequency and volume-frequency analyses are performed. The article describes the engineering purpose and design of storm sewer systems and storm treatment plant, the initial rainfall data treatment, the results from the statistical analysis and the consequence for engineering application.
