Technical state of tyres of cars which are in service in Lithuania is very poor. Analysis showed that effectiveness of braking depends much on the depth of the notching of a protector, especially on wet asphaltic road. A great part of cars (about 40%) are moving with lyres whose the depth of the notching of a protector is less than 3 mm, in presence of such depth of notching of a protector, the effectiveness of the braking becomes considerable low. Technical state of used tyres imported from the Western Europe is of quite low level. Even if at first sight il looks that they are no had (about 83% of them have more large depth of notching of a protector that 3 mm), however it do not reflect their real quality. Those lyres are mostly old (about 81% of them are of 5 years old, and about 23% of all imported being in service tyres are elder than 10 yers old), especially than the depth of notching of a protector is very large (about 7 mm and more). Maintenance of cars with free-inner tube tyres and appropriate rims is not acceptable and save. Due to specific features of design of tubeless lyres and appropriate rims, interaction of inner tubes with such features signs of three types are being formed: bends (in radial direction), rubbings (in direction of an oval) and signs of superheating of gum in a place of fastening of air-valve. Mechanical properties of gum of an inner tube in places of such signs become worse, namely the resistance of gum to tension become less. In places of rubbings the microcracks passing to all the thickness of the inner lube are being formed. Seeking to improve the technical state of car lyres being in service in Lithuania, it is required to provide drivers with more information on such matters, as well as to carry on more strict control, especially in roads when the drivers use their own not "lent" tyres. May be the Traffic Police might draw more attention to lyres of cars, and directly to punish the drivers who use their cats with tyres whose depth of notching of a protector is less than allowed. Such means could help to dispose the tyres of especially bad technical state.
