Abstract (en)
This paper presents a novel concept of the ejector developed for removal of iron from drinking water. Fluid flow-induced acoustic field generated in mixing chamber of the ejector accelerates redox reactions of Fe(II) and Fe(III) in addition to the intensive turbulent mixing of fluid with air that is assured by special design of mixing chamber. Parameters of acoustic field created by the ejector were investigated experimentally as well as iron removal efficiency. It is established that Fe(II) dissolved in drinking water is oxidized at frequencies higher than 200 Hz. Fe(III) is reduced if pulsation frequency does not exceed 200 Hz.
