Construction peculiarities of topological 3D model for underground infrastructure

It is a growing interest of designing and creation of 3D GIS models for many areas such like cadastres, urban planning, environmental monitoring, telecommunications, etc. Some of the systems require even more complicated information such like topological relationships to be evaluated and to be kept (cadastre, etc.) in the system. Designing 3D topological model in geoinformation systems issues of topological relationships between objects in 3D space should be considered. In this article designing issues of topological 3D GIS model for linear objects (underground utilities) are considered and presented, as well a theoretical method of determination of topological relationships. Possible relationships for underground utilities in 3D space are determined using 9 intersections model. Possible relationships are evaluated and practical examples are presented.
