The structure of the Vilnius public bus fleet was examined according to the models, average lifetime and run of buses. The volume of the one-year bus engine pollution exhaust is established together with its dependence on the indications mentioned. Measures for reducing the volume of pollution exhaust are proposed. The Vilnius bus fleet is attendant of the city’s routes (coefficient K1=const.), therefore the bus age is the main reason of the bus exhaust poisonousness. If the average lifetime of the bus fleet decreases from 8-10 years to 3-8 years, the pollution will be reduced by 12.7%; if it decreases to 3 years, the pollution will reduce to 309.12 and 720.46 tons per year, correspondingly.
