The operation of water-filled engineering systems on ships board is subject to a wide range of adverse effects that reduce the service life and operational efficiency of these systems, while improving the situation increases the negative environmental impact. The analysis of technological engineering solutions for more sustainable solutions shows, that technologically advanced technologies are already starting to be used in ships engineering systems, but they are not always chosen for the refurbishment of water-filled engineering systems due to the need for upgrading of the related engineering systems before their implementation, additional investments, and the technologies and solutions themselves are not cheap. For these reasons, the Merus ring technology was chosen as the object of the research and the aim of the research is to investigate the feasibility of the application of the Merus ring technology by assessing the ecological-economic effect of its integration in ship engineering networks. The results of the research are to systematise the good practices of the application of sustainable technology in the operation of water-filled systems and to present the positive aspects of its use from the ecological point of view, to assess the economic effect in a fixed period of time and to calculate the eco-economic effect index, which would in the future increase the integration of sustainable technology not only in ship engineering systems, but also to extend its application in other water-filled systems.
