Abstract (en)
Numerical methods for tank sloshing problems are investigated. Several interface capturing techniques are applied for the description of moving interfaces and free surfaces. Spatial domain is discretized by finite element method or the finite volume method. The level set method developed in finite difference areas is implemented in the finite element code and applied for sloshing analysis. The results of the level set method are compared with that of the height of liquid method and the scalar equation method available in the commercial finite volume code PHOENICS. The numerical experiments include the simulation of free oscillations in the tank filled by one or two liquids.
