Investigation of new piezoelectric actuator design based on shaking beam principle is presented in the paper. The core of this principle is that elliptic trajectory of the contact point movement is achieved using longitudinal and flexural resonance oscillation modes of frame type three dimensional actuator. Constructively it is based on special constructive features of the shaking beam type actuator. Two dimensional positioning of the body can be obtained using this type of actuator. Numerical analysis and experimental investigation of the piezoelectric actuator including measurement of contact point oscillations and trajectories were carried out. Results of investigations have shown good possibilities for practical usage of the piezoelectric actuator.
