Metallographical investigations of dissimilar steels joints between Ø32,8x7,1 mm tubes made of 10H2M (10CrMo 8 EN 10027-1) steel and sheets of 20H23N18 (X20CrNi23-10 EN 100027-1) steels were performed. Micro- and macrostructure examinations showed that the critical factor influencing the mechanical properties of welded joints was the appearence of porosity or slag inclusions in the welded metal. These structural discontinuities act as stress concentrators and generate microcraks.
