Abstract (en)

Machineability of nitrided steel 38XM?? expressed by grinding ratio, showing dependence between volume of metal being removed by grinding wheel and wheel wear volume was researched, as well as problem of achieving very high microfinish quality in grinding of this steel. Results being received are compared with grinding plain carbon case hardened steel 45 and low alloy carburised and case hardened steel 20X.
