The problem of location of shafts arises at their grinding in center pins of a cylindrical grinder at going from one length of shafts to the other Two different cases may be in this occasion. In one case the length of the newly taken shaft does not differ such a value that it would be necessary to move a tailstock to a new position alongside a table of a grinder but the shaft is located only at different projection of a tail spindle of a tailstock. At the other case the length difference is large and it is necessary to reset position of the tailstock. Additional errors of a shaft location occur in both cases. Because the error influent on a cylindrical accuracy of a shaft in grinding, in purpose to avoid it the table of a grinder must be reset newly. It takes additional time and influent on productivity of grinding. Cylindrical grinders with different design of tables and tailstocks were researched in our work. It is shown that the design in/Juent considerably on the value of tailstock resetting errors. Automation of accuracy achieving is proposed in the paper.
