Estimation of losses suffered due to changes in transport flow regimes on the narrowed sections of streets

Abstract

The article deals with the interaction of transport flows when passing the narrowed sections of the street. The narrowed section of the street is a section of the street in which traffic capacity is constrainedly lower. The analysis of the average time losses and their dependence on such characteristics of the narrowed section of the street as its length and width. The narrowed sections have been classified and formulas have been applied to find out the average size vehicle lines and the average idle time before entering the narrowed or closed traffic lane of the street. The presented methodology enables solution of practical tasks: calculation of economic losses, traffic organisation, choice of the optimal route when planning transportation of streets and roads with foreseen repairs work; besides it could be used in further studies.
