Abstract (en)

A system of higher education in Lithuania embraces two sectors (represented by university and non-university higher institutions (colleges)). Universities offer three-level system of studies leading to Bachelor's, Master's and Doctor's degrees. The main problem facing the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania is the integration of university and non-university sectors of education into a single system. The universities took the initiative by introducing the so-called 'levelling' studies for college graduates. Recently, a scheme allowing any college graduate to take a course of university studies leading to Master's degree has been offered.
