It is known that liquid crystals have the fluidity characteristics of a liquid and the elasticity characteristics of a crystalline solid in the direction perpendicular to the flow, and have a layer - like structure. Availability of lubricant layers with the above - mentioned properties in the surfaces of contacting bodies would allow to simultaneously provide both a high durability of friction pairs and a low friction coefficient of friction parts.
