The corrosion of mineral wool fibre in the solution imitating the hardening cement mortar medium was investigated. The mechanism of corrosion of the mineral wool fibre, produced from various raw materials was defined. It was observed that under the influence of the solution imitating the hardening cement mortar medium, a layer of corrosion products forms on the surface of the mineral wool fibres. The chemical composition and morphology of these products change when the chemical composition of mineral wool is changed. With the influence of time the thickness of this layer is enhanced and the fibres become fragile. [...].
