Application of management principles in ensuring the required quality of asphalt concrete pavement

Abstract

Continuous improvement of all operations and activities is at the heart of ensuring the required quality of asphalt concrete pavement. Once it is recognized that roads users satisfaction can only be obtained by providing a high-quality pavement, continuous improvement of the quality of the produced asphalt concrete mix is seen as the only way to maintain a high level of society satisfaction. Implementation of quality management priciples also recognizes that pavement quality is the result of asphalt concrete production process quality. As a result, there is a focus on continuous improvement of the all processes: mix design in the laboratory, quality control of production process at the plant and ensuring quality laying of asphalt concrete mix on the road surface and compaction. The aim of the present work is to present the process management principles for ensuring high quality of asphalt concrete pavement.
